For A Dying Christian Friend In A Hospice

Loving Lord, I just want to lift up my dear friend to You, who has been such a comfort and strength to me for so many years, but who has at last been admitted to a hospice where she is to pass her final few weeks of life in dignity and respect, as her life drains from her. Lord, I know that I am going to miss her so much.

Be with her Lord, every moment of the day and night. Thank You Father, that she is to be looked after in such a caring and understanding environment. Be with the staff who are to attend her as her life flows from her and Lord, I pray that she would be very aware of Your very presence with her, every moment of the day.

Lord, I know that she is ready and longing to meet You face to face, and I ask that You would keep her free from the pain and suffering that so often stalks the advancement of death. But praise God that the grave has lost its terrible sting and death has lost its victory, through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise Your holy name!

Lord, I know that I am going to miss my dear friend, but my sadness has such a wonderful tinge of hope and joy, for I know that soon we will all be together in Your company, where we will be free from all sickness and sadness, and You will wipe away every tear from our eyes. Thank You Lord, in Jesus' name,

Amen.

“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.”

Praying through Isaiah 40:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many prophets who proclaimed the coming of the Saviour, and thank You that by grace through faith I have believed their testimony and become part of the one new man in Christ. Help me to be a voice calling out in this wilderness of sin, proclaiming God's message of reconciliation to those that need a Saviour. Help me testify of the truth of God's Word - that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners through His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection - and that by faith in His name, lost sinners may be forgiven of their sin and declared righteous - to the glory of God. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”

Praying through Isaiah 40:5

Heavenly Father, what an amazing plan of redemption that God the Son should set aside His eternal, heavenly glory, and be born into His own creation so that His sinless lifeblood which pulsed through His human veins, could be shed as the full and final payment for the sin of the whole world. Thank You that His glory was revealed at His first coming, and that by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, I have His Holy Spirit indwelling my body. Praise Your holy name that although He was rejected as Your anointed King at His first advent, the day is coming when, as Prince of Peace, He will return to earth to be crowed as King of Israel and Lord of the whole earth. Thank You that a day is coming when Israel will recognise the Lord Jesus as their King, when He returns in power and great glory to set up His eternal kingdom. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”

Praying through Isaiah 40:8

Loving Father, thank You for Your Living Word and Your Written Word. I pray I would love Your Word more every day, and that I would understand the blessing of hiding Your Word in my heart. Thank You for Your everlasting grace and mercy toward foolish, frail humanity, and thank You that Your Word stands forever. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”

Praying through Isaiah 40:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the truth it contains. May I read, mark, learn and inwardly digest all that You would teach me and may I grow in grace and in a knowledge of You so that I may not be ashamed when I stand before Your throne, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Isaiah 40:26

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing writings of the prophet Isaiah and the beautiful truths that He reveals about the Lord Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd of the sheep Who gave His life as the ransom price for the sin of the world. I praise You for Your magnificent creation and for the salvation of my soul. May I never cease to wonder at Your might, majesty, dominion, and power, and praise You for Christ's sacrificial offering on the Cross and glorious Resurrection from the dead. Thank You that it is simply by faith in Him that we have become Your children. I pray for the people of Israel that many would come to faith in Christ, and I look forward to that future day when Israel as a nation will be restored. Thank You in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.”

Praying through Isaiah 40:28

Heavenly Father, thank You that You, the everlasting God, the eternal Creator, cares for me, Your child. Let me never wander into foolish pride, thinking I know everything about You, for Your ways are unsearchable. When I am weary, please bring to my remembrance that in You is my hope and strength and that You do not grow weary. Praise Your holy name! In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.”

Prayers For Babies In Surgery

Heavenly Father we want to bring before You the little new-born lives that are having to go through invasive and often complicated surgery so early in their little lives. Be near to each baby that is facing surgery today and we pray that You would guide the hands of the surgeons and other staff that are involved with the surgery, and provide them with the wisdom and skill to perform the surgery without complications.

We also lift up the parents and wider families of tiny babies that are facing surgery today and pray that Your perfect peace would guard their hearts and minds as they face the difficult task of seeing their precious baby being prepared for surger, having to hand them over and wait for the duration of the operation.

Lord, into Your hands we place these parents and babies. In Jesus' name,

Amen.

“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”

Praying through Isaiah 40:31

Loving Father, I know that my strength can only be found in Christ. Help me, I pray, to trust implicitly in the power that I can only receive from my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. I pray that I may truly rise above all the difficulties of life and run with patient endurance the race that is set before me, looking unto Jesus, Who is my only source of strength and my only means of refreshment. In His name I pray, AMEN.

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
