Praying through Hosea 1:4

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the truths that it contains. Thank You for using the life of the prophet Hosea, to paint such a graphic picture of Your relationship with Israel and of Your grace toward her, as well as the Christian Church. Thank You that in Your wrath You remembered mercy, not only for Israel but for me as well. Help me to understand the programme You have for Israel as well as the one You have for Your Church, and help me not to get the two dispensations confused. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.”
(Hosea 1:4)

Praying through Hosea 1:6

Heavenly Father, what amazing love You have for Your people, Israel, and for Your Church, which is the Body of Christ. Thank You for the life of Hosea and the picture it paints of the never-failing love and mercy You show toward Your people, Israel, and all who believe on Your name. Let me never forget how You rescued me from the slave-market of sin. I rejoice to know Your plan of redemption will one day be completed, when Jesus returns as Israel’s Messiah, the Church will rule and reign with Him in His kingdom, and Christ Jesus will be crowned as King of kings and Lord of lords. Help me show Your love and compassion to all those who cross my path so they may know that Jesus is Lord. In His name I pray, AMEN.

“And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.”

Praying through Hosea 1:7

Heavenly Father, what an amazing illustration of Your loving-kindness and gracious faithfulness is found in the book of Hosea. I pray that from this day forward I would resist the enticements of this world system and look to Jesus day by day and moment by moment.. doing only those things that honour Your name - to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.”
(Hosea 1:7)

Praying through Hosea 1:9

Heavenly Father, what an amazing illustration of Israel's fall from grace and her eventual repentance and restoration is seen through the life of Hosea, Gomer, and their three children. Thank You that Your nation, whose idolatry caused them to be called: "Lo-Ammi, not My people," will one day repent, be rescued from the slave-market of sin, and be restored into a right relationship with You when they believe on Jesus, their Messiah. Thank You that I have also been rescued from enslavement to sin and have been born from above by faith in Jesus Christ, my God and Saviour. May I eschew all forms of evil and seek to do only that which is righteous in Your sight, for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.”
