Praying through Colossians 4:1

Heavenly Father, how I praise that thank You that there is no shadow of turning with You and that You are no respecter of persons - but that each one of Your children is precious in Your sight. No matter what my circumstances are, I pray that I would follow Christ's example of goodness and grace, kindness and integrity. I pray that I would be fair and honourable in all my dealings and that by Your grace, my life would reflect the beautiful character of Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.”

Praying through Colossians 4:2

Heavenly Father, I bless You for Your grace and mercy to us. Thank You that I have the right to lay at Your feet my own needs and those of others. Increase my understanding of the great privilege of prayer that has been granted to me and all Your children, and I pray that I increasingly devote my life to You in prayer, praise, and grateful thanks. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;”

Praying through Colossians 4:3

Heavenly Father, thank You that by faith in Christ, I have become part of His mystical Body and have the indwelling Holy Spirit to lead and to guide me in these difficult days. I pray that doors would be open for ministers and ministries to share the good news of the gospel of Christ and that many would be saved. Bless the ministers and ministries You have used to draw me closer to the Lord Jesus, and I pray that You would provide many openings for the gospel to be preached, both at home and abroad, for His name's sake, AMEN.

“Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:”
(Colossians 4:3)

Praying through Colossians 4:5

Heavenly Father, no one knows how many days they have left on this earth. Help me, I pray, to redeem the time I have left, conducting myself with all wisdom and grace in my everyday life. Help me to make the most of my opportunities to share about Jesus to those who have not yet heard of His gracious salvation. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.”

Praying through Colossians 4:6

Loving Father, my speech is not always gracious or seasoned with salt. Through Your Spirit, I pray that the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart is always acceptable to you so that I only say that which is pleasing to You. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.”

Praying through Colossians 4:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for the godly example of Tychicus who gave comfort and encouragement to others and was a faithful man of prayer whom You entrusted to fulfil Your plans and purposes through his life-example. Give me the grace to faithfully fulfil the work that You have called me to do, and I pray that I may continue earnestly in prayer, be vigilant in worship, give comfort and encouragement to others, and in everything give thanksgiving and praise, for the honour of Your name. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;”

Praying through Colossians 4:15

Heavenly Father, thank You for the inspired Scriptures and the many truths that are contained within its sacred pages. Thank You for men like Paul whom You used to pen the Scriptures and for the truth of the glorious gospel of grace contained within its pages. Thank You for the example of Paul who recognised his responsibility toward his brothers in Christ, and for Nymphas, the believer in Laodicea whose home became the place where Christians met to worship You. Help me to be diligent to meet together with other believers and to study Your Word in spirit and in truth, and I pray that You would use me in whatever way You choose, for Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.”
(Colossians 4:15)

Praying through Colossians 4:16

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful truths that are set out in the book of Colossians and in all the Holy Scriptures, which guide us into truth, sharpen our resolve to live as Christ lived, and teach us the way we should behave. May I learn to love Your Word, study the Scriptures daily, and show myself approved unto God so that I live as a shining light in this darkened world and do not fall into spiritual complacency. Thank You that the Word of Truth is freely available in my country, knowing that the days are becoming darker. Protect those who have limited access to Scripture, because of oppressive governments and ungodly laws. May we all grow in grace as we watch for the any-day return of the Lord Jesus for His Church. I ask this in His precious name, AMEN.

“And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.”
