Praying through Colossians 2:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus and that all things were made by Him and for Him. I realise that without Him there is no meaning in life. Keep me from being influenced by the enticing arguments, idle philosophies and crude notions of human traditions, which inevitably look for answers to life, anywhere except to the truth, which is only found in the Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in the Word of God. Thank You that He is the only way, the only truth and the only life. May I grow in grace and in a knowledge of Jesus day by day AMEN.

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”

Praying through Colossians 2:12

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You for Your wonderful plan of redemption. How amazing to think that Christ identified with me and my sin so that I could be identified with Him and His righteousness. Thank You that by faith I have been crucified with Christ, buried with Him, and raised into newness of life. Thank You that I have been taken out of the old creation in Adam and identified with the new creation in Christ. How I praise You that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is now working in me - so that the power of sin and death is broken in my life. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”

Thank You that by His death and Resurrection, I have been forgiven of all my sins. In Christ, I have been brought back into eternal fellowship with You. Help me to walk in the light and to be a light to those that are dead in their trespasses and separated from the Father. Use me as a witness to the glorious gospel of grace, to those with whom I come in contact today. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Colossians 2:15

Heavenly Father, I lift my voice in triumphant praise and joyful thanks for Christ’s victory over sin, Satan, death, and hell. Without Christ’s willingness to suffer and die on the Cross on my account, I would still be a slave to sin, under Satan’s dominion, a transgressor of the Law, and estranged from You. But You have set me free, through the shed blood of your dearly beloved Son, by grace through faith, so that I may love and worship You in spirit and in truth. I praise and thank You that You have already disarmed the satanic rulers and authorities and triumphed over them, making them a public example. I pray that I may live my life as unto the Lord. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

Praying through Colossians 2:16

Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ died for me and paid the full price that was required of a guilty sinner. Thank You that in Him I am no longer under the curse of the Law and required to follow any religious rule and ritual, but have become part of a new creation that is identified with Christ and His righteousness. Thank You that I am no longer under the old cursed creation, but am part of the new creation in Christ. Help me to live as Christ lived, to love as Christ loved, and to do only those things that are pleasing in Your sight. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Colossians 2:17

Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ is the substance and reality of our faith and that in Him, we have been freed from slavery to sin. Thank You that we have been released from the bondage of legalistic rules and regulations, which were a mere shadow of things to come. Thank You for the wonderful way that you designed the Law and the many Jewish rites, rituals, feasts, and assignments, to be shadows of things to come, in order to point us to Christ Who is the hope of our calling, and in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”

Praying through Colossians 2:18

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wise warnings of Paul to the church at Colossae. Help me to be increasingly aware of the dangers of allowing the enemy of my soul to defraud me of my heavenly rewards, by falling for foolish flattery, deceptive practices, worldly philosophies, and other empty deceptions of religious pretenders. Keep me safe from those that imagine that they have extra biblical access to the visionary sphere, or who have become overly obsessed with the angelic realm. May my life die to my own desires and live for Christ, day by day. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,”

Praying through Colossians 2:19

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful truths that are clearly revealed in Your Word. Thank You for the many warnings against the false teachings and destructive philosophies that can ruin my testimony, stunt my spiritual growth, and render my life as fruitless. Give me wisdom to discern if someone's teaching is truly coming from You, as You are the only true source of nourishment for the Body of Christ. I pray that I may abide in Christ and He in me, and that by Your grace I will mature in the faith and produce much fruit for Your praise and glory, and not only me, but may all those who have been called by Your name, bear much fruit for Your greater praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.”

Praying through Colossians 2:20

Heavenly Father, help me to reject the basic principles and religious practises of the world that are so strong in the heart of fallen man. Thank You for reminding me once again, that by faith I died with Christ, and my life is hid with Christ. May I never forget that I am no longer part of this fallen world system, but a citizen of heaven and identified with Christ's righteousness. May I live in a way that demonstrates that I am part of the new creation in Christ, and one with Him in thought, word, and deed. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,”

Praying through Colossians 2:21

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have all that I need for life and godliness in the Scriptures. Thank You that a knowledge of Your Word will help me recognise false teachings or unbiblical doctrines. Keep me alert to the wiles of the enemy of my soul, who seeks to shipwreck my testimony and destroy my opportunity to serve You in spirit and truth. Thank You that in Christ, I have died to the elementary principles of this world and am free from the curse of Law. Never again do I need to submit myself to any decrees of this world. Help me walk, day by day, in spirit and in truth, for Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Colossians 2:22

Heavenly Father, thank You for the ministry and epistles of Paul, and for the many truths that I can learn when I have eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart that is willing to learn. Keep me from getting deceived by any appealing philosophies, human commands, or religious procedures, which I realise can so easily pull me into legalistic practices. Thank You that reconciliation with God is an accomplished fact, and that nothing needs to be added to my faith in Him for the forgiveness of sins. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Colossians 2:23

Heavenly Father, thank You for the teaching in Paul’s letter to the Colossians that denounces the many ways that man-made religions, worldly philosophies, and self-abasement of the flesh, are adopted to give an appearance of holiness while denying the Lord Who bought us. Give me wisdom and discernment to renounce all forms of worldly philosophy and man-made religiosity that give an appearance of holiness and seem to be spiritual yet deny Your Word. Thank You for exposing the endless struggles and tyranny of the self-life, and thank You that my sufficiency is in Christ Jesus My Saviour. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.”
