Praying through 1 John 3:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your incredible grace and inestimable love that I should be called Your child. Thank You that Jesus came to earth and identified with my filthiness and sin so that I might be clothed in His purity and righteousness, positioned in Christ, in-dwelled by the Spirit, and accepted in the Beloved. And thank You that I have the amazing blessing to look forward to in heaven that I will see my precious Saviour as He is. In my glorified body I will be like Him and be fully able to worship Him in spirit and truth. What a glorious day. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

Praying through 1 John 3:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for saving me by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus. Thank You that I have the blessed and sure hope of heaven in my future. I pray that in my life I would purify myself as I abide in Christ and become more like Him, day by day. Father, there are many in the world that do not know You and have not trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. Use me to be a channel of blessing to show Your love to a world that is dead in trespasses and sins. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 3:4

Heavenly Father, I acknowledge You as the God of the universe and Lord of my life. I thank You that in Your grace, You sent the Lord Jesus to pay the price for my sin and declared me righteous in Your sight - by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection. There are many, Lord, who are still walking in rebellion against You and are cloaked in sin and lawlessness. I pray that they would open their eyes to the truth in the precious Word of God and be saved by grace through faith in Christ - for which I give You thanks and praise. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 3:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending the Lord Jesus at the appointed time to come to earth as the sinless Son of Man in order to take away my sins. You could have left me eternally separated from Yourself and dead in my trespasses and sins but in Your grace, Christ came to earth, dying in my place and giving me His own resurrected life. Your love is beyond my understanding, but I praise and thank You with all the breath that is in me. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 3:8

Heavenly Father, thank You that all of Satan’s evil schemes and plans were destroyed at the Cross. Thank You that everything that could cause my ruin has been forever destroyed and the accuser himself will be destroyed in the lake of fire, all because of Jesus’ precious sacrifice on the Cross. I know that many in this world are blinded by the wicked one who seeks to destroy the souls of men. I pray that Your saving grace may flow out to others who are in bondage to sin and Satan and many more would be saved. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

Praying through 1 John 3:9

Heavenly Father, thank You for my new life in Christ that the Holy Spirit breathed into me when I trusted Jesus as my Saviour. I confess that too often my old sin nature causes me to sin, but thanks be to God that the power of that sinful nature has been broken in my life. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am a child of God and that the life of the risen Lord Jesus is dwelling in me. Help me to live and work to Your praise and glory. May I cast off the works of darkness and be clothed in the armour of light, so that others may see Christ working in and through me, to His praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 3:13

Heavenly Father, as I walk through this life toward my heavenly home, I pray that I would be a worthy ambassador for Christ, reflecting His love and truth to all I meet. Help me not to be surprised when I receive hatred from the world, knowing that the world hated Christ first, but may I rest in Your love, walk in the truth of Your Word, and finish the work You have for me on the earth before You call me home. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for my brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank You that we all have the common bond of Jesus and the sweet fellowship it brings into our lives. I pray that I may love my Christian family deeply, through good times and bad, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 3:16

Heavenly Father, I stand dumbfounded to realise the depth of Your love for me and remain stunned at the amazing love of Christ for me and for the fallen race of sinful man - that Christ laid aside His heavenly glory and was made sin for me so that by grace through faith in Him I might have life. I pray that His love might flow through me so that I too may be willing to lay down my life for others - to Your praise and glory, AMEN.

“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

Praying through 1 John 3:17

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word of truth and the many things I can learn from questioning my own actions, attitudes, moods, and motives. Thank You for this passage in first John that has caused me to reflect on the way that I treat my brothers and sisters in Christ. Help me to be wise and prudent in the way I use my resources and generous toward others when I see a need. May I always show the love of God to those in need, to Your glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?”

Praying through 1 John 3:18

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am Your child and that Christ died to pay the price for my sin. Thank You that He rose again so that I could become a new creation in Christ, receiving my new life in Him. May the love of the Lord Jesus so flood and fill my being, that it not only flows out to others in thought and word, but in spirit, in truth, and in my every action and attitude. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 3:19

Heavenly Father, it is most wonderful to know I have all I need to live in love and to love others as Christ loved me. Help me to abide in Him and He in me so I may know I am walking in spirit and in truth. May I draw closer to You every moment of the day and may both my words and deeds be honouring to You. Help me to walk in righteousness all the days of my life, keeping the eyes of my heart on Jesus and maintaining a clear conscience before You. Change me, I pray, from one state of glory to the next for the honour of Your name so that when I stand before You, I may hear You say, "Well done good and faithful servant." This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.”

For Those Who Feel Guilt After An Abortion

Loving Lord, I recently had an abortion because I was pregnant and did not want to have another baby, but since going through the abortion Lord, I find that I am beset about by guilt and my heart feels as if it is torn in two.

Lord, You have promised to be close to those whose hearts are breaking. I know that what I did was wrong, because You are the Lord of life, but Father, You are also the great God of comfort and the Comforter that has promised to be with us always and to comfort us in our distresses.

Lord I have just read the prayer ‘I Had An Abortion,’ and I thank You that You died to pay the price for all my sins, including this abortion. Lord, I know that any deep wound takes much time to heal, but I pray Lord, that You would start to mend my broken heart today and to soothe my smarting soul.

Give me the comfort that only comes from You to face the future, knowing that in Your sight I am pure and forgiven, and thank You for Your great assurance that there is no sin that is so bad that You are unwilling to forgive.

Thank You, in Jesus' name,

Amen.

“For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.”
