Prayer for 1 John

Praying through 1 John 1:1

Heavenly Father, praise Your name for the Lord Jesus Christ Who is the Word of life. Thank You that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. How wonderful that John saw the Lord Jesus with his own eyes, lived with Him, and learned from Him. I am looking forward to that glorious day when I too will see Jesus, face to face. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 1:6

Loving Father I desire to keep in sweet communion with You and not to flirt with the agents of darkness. There are times that my heart has been divided and I know that darkness and light cannot walk together. Keep me close to You and help me to fly to You and confess my sin the moment I start to stray, so that sweet fellowship with You is quickly restored. Praying through 1 John 1:7

Heavenly Father, I praise Your name for the blood of Jesus which has cleansed me of all my sins and identified me with the righteousness of Christ. Your grace gives me the choice to walk in Your marvellous light or live my Christian life in the shadow of the world, the flesh, and the devil. I choose, from this day forward, to walk in the light as Jesus is in the light, for I desire a more intimate fellowship with Him. In His precious name I pray, AMEN.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

Praying through 1 John 1:8

Heavenly Father, thank You that when Christ died, He paid the price for my sins and broke the power of sin in my life. In Him, I have fellowship with You and free access to the throne of grace. I confess that I have not always walked in spirit and truth but have given in to the temptations to follow the desires and cravings of my own heart. I am sorry for doing things that were displeasing to You and omitting to do those things that were pleasing to You but thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive all my sins and to keep on cleansing me from unrighteousness. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Bedtime Prayer For Forgiveness

Thank You Lord that You are the almighty God Who forgives all our sins and pardons all our wrongdoings, and I just want to ask Your forgiveness for the times today what I have not truly  loved You as I ought  - with all my heart and soul and mind and strength. Forgive me I pray for the times that I sought to carry out my own will in preference to Yours.

Thank You that I have been washed by the blood of the Lamb and have been made righteous in Your sight by faith in Jesus Christ my Saviour. But Lord, just like the disciples in the upper room, I need my “feet” to be washed by You, my heart to be cleansed in the power of the Holy Spirit and my sins to be forgiven - knowing that You are a faithful God who is ready and willing to forgive us our sins and to cleans us from all unrighteousness.

Forgive me for wanting my own way rather that seeking You first in everything. Help me to look to Jesus every moment of the day and may I sleep soundly as I prepare to go to sleep.  Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning.  and thank You for Your great faithfulness towards me and to all those that have trusted in Christ

Help me to rest soundly tonight, so that I may wake refreshed in the morning and be ready and equipped to do Your bidding. Open my eyes to see You and my ears to hear Your voice speaking to me and lead me in the way of righteousness – from this day forward, I ask in Jesus name,

Amen

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Praying through 1 John 1:10

Heavenly Father, how I praise and glorify Your holy name that my sins are forgiven by faith in Christ and that I can enjoy sweet fellowship with You. I confess I have no righteousness of my own and do not deserve to receive Your grace and favour. But thank You that my hope rests on Christ. Dear Father, too often I find myself allowing fleshly tendencies to influence my life choices. Forgive me for the times I have left my first love, behaved arrogantly, or failed to listen to Your gentle promptings. Restore to me the joy of my salvation. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Thank You that the Lord Jesus is my righteous advocate Who ever lives to make intercession for me. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 2:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for this new commandment which Jesus gave to His disciples, and has become such a well-loved old instruction which has been passed down through generations of believers to me. I desire to love others as Christ loved me, and to live my life as He lived, in ongoing and unbreakable fellowship with You. Thank You for the length, and breadth, and depth, and height, of His supernatural and never-ending, never-failing, love for me. Keep me low at the Cross and broken before You. May I quickly restore any fractured fellowship with You, through the immediate confession of my sin, and give me the grace to love others as Christ loved me, and gave Himself for me. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Thank You that the darkness of sin, Satan, death, and hell is passing away and that the true Light of Life is already shining in our hearts, and in the lives of all who are saved by grace through faith in Him. May I be a true witness to Your goodness and grace, and may I learn to love as Christ loved, and to mirror His supernatural love in my life, for His praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name AMEN.

For Those Who Feel Guilt After An Abortion

Loving Lord, I recently had an abortion because I was pregnant and did not want to have another baby, but since going through the abortion Lord, I find that I am beset about by guilt and my heart feels as if it is torn in two.

Lord, You have promised to be close to those whose hearts are breaking. I know that what I did was wrong, because You are the Lord of life, but Father, You are also the great God of comfort and the Comforter that has promised to be with us always and to comfort us in our distresses.

Lord I have just read the prayer ‘I Had An Abortion,’ and I thank You that You died to pay the price for all my sins, including this abortion. Lord, I know that any deep wound takes much time to heal, but I pray Lord, that You would start to mend my broken heart today and to soothe my smarting soul.

Give me the comfort that only comes from You to face the future, knowing that in Your sight I am pure and forgiven, and thank You for Your great assurance that there is no sin that is so bad that You are unwilling to forgive.

Thank You, in Jesus' name,

Amen.

Praying through 1 John 3:23

Heavenly Father, thank You that even while I was a sinner, Christ died for me and by believing on His name, I have been brought into Your family. I pray that I may learn to abide in Christ and He in me so that I may love as Christ loved and bring forth the fruit of love in my life, for God and for others. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may take this warning seriously and test all the teachings and doctrines I come across against the plumb-line of Your Word of truth. Give me discernment, I pray, and help me to focus my heart and mind on Christ and abide in Him so that I may not be swayed by lying spirits and false teachings. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 4:2

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You sent the lovely Lord Jesus to be born in the flesh so that He could die for my sin. Thank You that He was willing to be born into the human race, and shed His life-blood so that I might live in Him. Give me the wisdom and insight to discern the truth, and not to be led astray by apostate teachers or heretics. May I feed on You in my heart, by faith, with thanksgiving and praise. Protect my mind from all false teachings, and may I grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through 1 John 4:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of God and the truth it contains. Thank You that Jesus is my Lord and Saviour. He is the incarnate Word of God Who came from heaven as my sin-substitute and Kinsman-Redeemer. Thank You for the many warnings in Your Word about false teachings that diminish the Person and work of Christ Jesus. Help me to be diligent in my study of Scripture and give me discernment to identify and denounce every spirit of antichrist that seeks to influence my faith in Christ. Give me a teachable spirit, I pray, and guide me into all truth. Guard the hearts and minds of vulnerable believers who have opened their minds to any spirit of antichrist and help them to recognise the folly of their way and return to the Word of truth. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”

Thank You, Father, that I am Your child, and thank You for the wonderful gift of Your Holy Spirit, Who is living within my body to lead and guide and protect me. Thank You that no power in heaven or hell can match His greatness. Thank You that by faith in Christ, I have overcome the enemies that seek my downfall and the downfall of those I love. Help me withstand all forms of evil and to submit to You in all things. Give me the wisdom to resist Satan's wiles, and flood my heart with Your perfect peace that passes understanding. Help me, Father, to listen more earnestly to Your still, small voice, and to remember that greater is HE that is living in me than the defeated enemy that is in the world. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

As I rest in Your love, I pray that I would experience the peace the passes understanding, whatever situation of life I am in. And as I come to a deeper realisation of the depth of Your superlative love for me, may I be used by You to love as I am loved. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Father, when I think of the depth of Your love for me, I am overwhelmed. A Prayer for Deep Abiding With My Heavenly Vine

Dear Father, Who art in heaven, thank You that You are my heavenly Husbandman and that You tend my life with such care and concern. Cleanse me and prune me, and take away anything that you discover in me that does not glorify Your holy name.

Thank You, Father, that I am a heavenly branch that is united to my heavenly Vine, the lovely Lord Jesus Christ. May His life flow through mine as sap flows through the branch that is engrafted into its parent stem. Fill me with His fullness so that I may live and move and grow and bear fruit as I abide more and more in Him. In Jesus' name,

Amen.
