Praying through Esther 1:1

Heavenly Father, thank You that no problem I face in my life, church, local community, or nation, is too difficult for You and that You are the God of the impossible. As I read through the book of Esther, I am reminded that You are fully in control. Thank You that You have a perfect plan and that nothing can thwart Your programme of redemption. Thank You that Your purpose for Israel can never be derailed and that the day is coming when all Israel will be saved and receive their promised inheritance. And thank You that Your purpose for the Church is also being carried out, and the day is coming when we will receive our heavenly inheritance. Praise Your holy name! AMEN.

“Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)”

Praying through Esther 1:19

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons I can learn from the little book of Esther and the many ungodly actions and attitudes that it exposes. Give me discernment to recognise those that seek to manipulate others through deceit and lies. Keep me from the destructive lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and pride. Help me eschew the evil and seek only to do that which is righteous in Your eyes. Lead me in the path of righteousness for Your name’s sake. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.”

Praying through Esther 2:6

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful way that You used Esther and Mordecai to prevent the annihilation of the Jewish nation during the time of the Persian empire. I rejoice to see how their faith and hope in You was rekindled and that despite their many failings, You used them to forward Your redemptive plan. I pray that I would not allow the things of this world to undermine my faith in You and my hope in the soon return of the Lord Jesus. Help me to walk in spirit and truth and use me, I pray, in the unfolding of Your wonderful plan of redemption, for the glory of Your holy name. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.”

Praying through Esther 2:10

Heavenly Father, thank You for the important reminder from the book of Esther, that we should never compromise our faith, but stand fast in the evil day. Thank You that even when I fail and find myself overwhelmed by the circumstances of life, Your grace is sufficient for me. Thank You that in Christ, I have everything I need for life and godliness so that I am enabled to abound unto every good work. Use me, I pray, in the place where You have planted me, for Your holy name's sake. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.”

Praying through Esther 2:15

Loving Heavenly Father, thank You that by grace we are saved and by grace, our sins are remembered no more. Thank You, that by grace we are established in the faith and only by grace are we enabled to carry out the good works You have prepared for us to do. Forgive me for the times I have failed to listen to Your voice and walk in Your ways, and keep me from promoting any worthy works I may have done, for without You I can do nothing. Keep me low at the cross and humble before You, and I pray in Jesus' name, that all I am and all I do would be for His glory and His alone, AMEN.

“Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.”

For Families With An Alcoholic Father

Loving Heavenly Father, You put us into families and set a father as the leader and role model for each family, but Lord, there are many families that are being torn apart by a husband and father that has become addicted to alcohol.

Knowing the devastating nature of this disease, I pray that You would prompt each one to turn away from this evil habit to become the responsible husband and father that You desire each one to be.

Lord, we know that there are many alcoholic husbands that abuse their wives both physically and emotionally and that many children are also placed in danger due to abuse from an alcoholic father. And also Lord, we know that such drinking habits can often leave families with insufficient money to live on.

Protect all those that are vulnerable from all forms of abuse, and convict such men of the responsibilities of being loving husbands and dependable fathers. Lord, we pray that they turn from their evil ways to turn to the Lord Jesus, knowing that only in You is true freedom found.

Thank You Father. I commit all families that are in this position into Your safe-keeping. In Jesus' name,

Amen.

“For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Praying through Esther 9:17

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful story of Esther, which adds to my understanding of Your goodness and grace toward us, as well as Your purpose for Israel in Your perfect plan of redemption. Thank You that the Law of sin and death has been superseded by the Law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus. Thank You that Your plans and purposes for the nation of Israel will one day come to fruition, when they finally recognise Jesus as their Saviour and Lord. In His name I pray, AMEN.

“On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.”

Praying through Esther 9:32

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful way that You have kept Your people, Israel, from so many attempts to exterminate them, down through centuries of time. Thank You that You are a faithful God to all Your children. I pray that many Jews who remain blinded to the truth would come to know Jesus as their Saviour - and become members of the Body of Christ. Defend them, I pray, in the increasingly difficult times in which we live... and I pray that many may come to know the joy of their great salvation in Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.”

Praying through Esther 10:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing book of Esther and the wonderful way we see Your plans and purposes being quietly carried out in everyday circumstances, to forward Your sovereign will for the redemption of the world and the return of Christ to set up His eternal kingdom on earth. Thank You that there is nothing that can prevent Your eternal purposes from being fulfilled. I pray that I would die to my own desires and live for Your greater glory and that by Your grace, You would use me in the place in which I have been planted. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.”
