Praying through Lamentations 1:1

Heavenly Father, as I read through the prophetic voice of Jeremiah and his lament over Jerusalem, I am able to have a glimpse into the terrible events that overtook Your chosen people who chose to follow the path of spiritual adultery, rather than obeying Your commands and trusting Your Word. Help me learn the lessons from Israel’s failure and trust Your Word, obey Your voice, and walk in spirit and truth. Thank You that You have told us the end from the beginning and that in Your wrath You will remember mercy. I look forward to that coming day when Israel will repent of their sins and be restored as a nation. But I also pray that many would recognise Jesus as their Saviour and come to faith in Him today. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!”

Praying through Lamentations 1:12

Heavenly Father, thank You for the book of Lamentations and the many lessons I can learn from its pages. May I never fail to view the terrible consequences of sin and the unspeakable torture and pain that was so severely dealt out to the Lord Jesus on my behalf, as the full force of God’s terrible wrath was poured out upon Him, in my stead. Keep me low at the Cross and broken before You, and may my heart be ever grateful for all that He did for me at Calvary. It is in His name I pray, AMEN.

Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.”

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You that you are a gracious, loving, and long-suffering God. Help me not to be influenced by the circumstances of my life, but rather help me to keep the eyes of my heart on You, knowing that Your plans and purposes are perfect. Thank You, Father, for Your steadfast love toward all Your children which is new every morning. All glory to Your holy name, AMEN.

It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.”

Praying through Lamentations 3:24

Heavenly Father, there are times when it seems that I am alone as I face life's difficulties, mourn over the spiritual decline that is overtaking the Church today, and grieve to see the shocking evil that is saturating the world. Thank You, Lord, that I am not alone, but am one of a remnant of believers who desires to do Your will. Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning and that You are building up Your church to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
