Praying through 1 Peter 1:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for the life and ministry of Peter and all your apostles and prophets who penned the Scriptures for our learning. As I read and study Your Word, I pray that You would give me a teachable spirit and a desire to learn the truth of the gospel of Christ. I pray I would not read it with any unscriptural bias or learned prejudice, and I pray I would not accept any unbiblical interpretations. Guide me into all truth, and may I grow in grace and in a knowledge of my Lord and Saviour. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Peter 1:2

Heavenly Father, thank You that You know the end from the beginning and that You foreknew that I would trust in the Lord Jesus for my salvation. Thank You that in Him I am apart as Your child. I pray that I may be obedient to my calling and bring glory to Your holy name in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being with me in all my trials. What a blessing to realise that when I go through trials, the end result can be a stronger faith which is much more precious than gold. Heavenly Father, thank You for opening my understanding to the serious nature of the choices each of us has to make in life. Thank You that I have chosen to trust in Christ for salvation, and that there is no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus. Thank You that He is the Foundation Stone on which the Church is being built and the Rock upon which I stand. But Father, there are many who are disobedient to Your call to trust in Christ - in Whom are the words of eternal life. Heavenly Father, thank You for the wise instructions Peter gives on the role of husbands and wives in his extended passage on godly conduct within Christian marriages. Heavenly Father, I know that in this world I will have tribulation and troubles as a child of God. I pray that I would not be fearful but trust in You. Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been redeemed by the blood of Christ. My desire is to be fully sanctified unto Him and to offer my body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. Guard my heart and guide my speech, I pray. Give me wisdom to be able to give a defence for my trust in Christ and to give an answer for the blessed hope that I have in Him. And Lord, I pray that by the power of Your Holy Spirit, I would be able to answer everyone who asks me about my faith in Christ, in gentleness and reverence and always to Your praise and glory. Heavenly Father, thank You for this truth that being baptised does not save us, but it is a wonderful outward expression of faith in Jesus and the answer of a good conscience toward God. Thank You that I have been identified with Christ’s death, burial, and Resurrection. Thank You that His death became my death, His burial became my burial, and that through Christ's Resurrection, I have a received a good conscience before God. May I walk daily in newness of life for Your honour and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful example of Christ Jesus my Lord Who came to earth to identify with my sin and suffered in the flesh on my account so that I might be saved by faith in His sacrificial work on the Cross. Thank You in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. It is terrible to realise that those who have not accepted Your offer of salvation and trusted Christ for the forgiveness of sins, will one day stand before You to give a full account of themselves. Give me a heart for the lost, I pray, and fill me with compassion for those that malign and abuse me for Your sake. Help me to show the love of Jesus to those who persecute me and enable me to share the gospel of grace to everyone, knowing that Your blood was spilt for everyone for the remission of sins and life everlasting. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for giving me the understanding that only as I remain in Christ can I practice self-controlled godly conduct, and maintain fellowship with You, for it is only through His righteousness that I can approach Your throne of grace and pray effectively. Keep me I pray, looking to Jesus as I wait for His imminent return. Keep me sound in judgement, sober in spirit, and use me I pray, to share the good news of the glorious gospel with lost souls in need of salvation. I pray that Your will be done in my life, and that godly wisdom and understanding would be reflected in my prayers and praises. This I ask in Jesus' name, and for His greater glory, AMEN.

I pray that I would not misuse this verse and simply tolerate all sin, or wink at sin, but love as Christ loved me, loving and forgiving in grace and truth. I pray, that I may reflect Christlikeness in all my dealings with others, so that the glory goes to You. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, there is a part of me that wants to have a nice, easy, trouble-free existence and yet I know that this life is a training ground to draw me closer to You and to conform me, day by day, into the likeness of Christ. May I not be surprised at the fiery ordeals that I am called upon to endure, but embrace them as Your gracious child training programme to make me more like Christ. Heavenly Father, thank You for the important perspective Peter gives about suffering for righteousness' sake. May I rejoice in the blessing when I face problems and persecution because I am a Christian. I pray that I may eschew all evil works of darkness and honour His name in all I say and do, from this day forward. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that by faith, I have been identified with the Lord Jesus Christ, and have become one of Your children. Give me the grace to endure suffering for His name's sake, and may my life be a witness to Your goodness and grace, in a world that is lying in the grasp of the evil one. Heavenly Father, thank You for these instructions to church elders, to feed the flock of God with sound, biblical doctrine, and to take responsibility for the nurturing and encouragement of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Help each one of us to grow in grace and in a knowledge of You, and may all Your children live humbly and walk circumspectly before You, throughout our Christian life. Thank You, Father, that You are no respecter of persons and are ready to use any one of us who is willing to be used, and looking to Jesus as the Author and Finisher of our faith - even me. Give me opportunities to shepherd and nurture those that are weaker in the faith than I, and excite in me a desire to learn from elders and officials in the church, who are fulfilling their God-given role within the body of Christ. Give me a spirit of humility and grace to finish the race that is set before me, and may I do all to Your greater praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the faithful pastors and elders in our churches who humbly care for the people in their congregations, as they gently shepherd the flock of God in their charge. We pray for all those who have been called to be the under-shepherds of Your people, and pray that You would empower each one with the gifts and graces they need to minister to those You have placed in their charge. Keep them from developing an attitude of pride or superiority, and may they all rejoice with the saints in heaven, when they receive their crown of glory that will not pass away. Help each one to pattern their life on Christ, and may each one set a godly example to those in their care. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.
