Praying through Ecclesiastes 1:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for this honest assessment of living life in this fallen world, without Christ. Keep me from chasing after any of the vain things that this world offers, knowing that there is nothing on earth that has lasting value except to know You. May I place You in the centre of my life, knowing that the whole duty and delight of man is to worship and praise You for Your goodness and grace to all men. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.”

Freedom From Anxiety In A World In Turmoil

Loving Heavenly Father, it seems that more and more people are becoming increasingly anxious about what is going on in the world today and what is likely to happen, both within our own nations and further afield. There are may conspiracy theories on one hand and a lot of hype on the other, which seem deliberately designed to cause people to become anxious and afraid.

I know that You are not a God of disorder or fear, but a God of peace and love, but I also know that the Bible tells us that as we get closer to the return of the Lord Jesus for His church, men’s hearts will start to fail, for fear of what is coming on the earth.

Lord Jesus, I am Your child and I know that my strength and comfort is in You. I know that You will never leave me nor forsake me, no matter what happens in this world. Keep me I pray from anxious thoughts, and prevent my heart from fearing what is coming on the world, knowing that my citizenship is in heaven with You, and knowing that the day is fast approaching when You will come to take us to be with Yourself in our heavenly home, where we will be with You forever.

Thank You for this assurance I have in Christ Jesus my Saviour,

Amen.

Praying through Ecclesiastes 3:1

Thank You, Father, that You know the end from the beginning and that everything under heaven is within Your authority. Thank You, that You are in control of all that is happening in my own individual life and the wider world in general. May I trust You through all the circumstances of life and as I seek Your face in prayer and praise, may I learn more and more to pray, "Thy will be done in my life and throughout the world." In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”

Praying through Ecclesiastes 3:11

Heavenly Father, I truly worship and praise You, that You are our great Creator Who has made everything beautiful in its time and appropriate to complete Your plans and purposes. Thank You that You made us in Your image and likeness and that in Your grace have set eternity in the hearts of all people. Help me to surrender to Your sovereign will, to establish You on the throne of my life, and to trust You to fulfil Your perfect plan and purposes in each of our lives. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Ecclesiastes 4:9

Heavenly Father, thank You for this simple truth that impacts our lives, that two are better than one. What a privilege we have as the Body of Christ, to support and encourage one another in the work that You have given us to do. Give me grace and wisdom to hold the things of this world lightly and to consider the needs of others before my own. Unite Your people together in the bond of peace, and may we be a living testimony to the goodness and grace of God and work together for the furtherance of the gospel. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.”

Praying through Ecclesiastes 4:12

Loving Lord and Heavenly Father, I pray that I would always invite You into every relationship in my life and seek Your guidance in every decision I make. Keep me from being enticed into worldly ways or seeking after the empty values life has to offer. Thank You for the Word of truth and the wisdom it contains, and help me to learn the lessons that life teaches as I keep my eyes looking to Jesus. May I stand firm, stay true, resist the enemy, maintain the unity of the spirit in a bond of peace, and not fall prey to an alternative philosophy or unwholesome mindset. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Bedtime Prayer For Adults

Heavenly Father, how I thank You for bringing us safely to the end of the day. I praise and thank You for Your loving-kindness and great goodness to us today.

Thank You for the many blessings and provisions that You bestowed on us today, for keeping us safe, guiding us and bringing us once again to that time of the day when we can recharge our spirits and souls with a refreshing nights sleep.

Forgive me I pray, if I have said or done anything that was not honouring to Your name or have sought to do things in my own strength rather than relying totally on You, for I praise You that Your grace is sufficient for Your strength is perfected in our weakness.

And now Lord, as we lie down I pray that You would watch over us to protect and keep us safe. Give us a deep and refreshing sleep and may we cast any burdens or difficulties on You and not allow our minds to fret or worry, for You have promised to carry all our burdens if we will just give them to You. In Jesus' name,

Amen.

“The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.”

Praying through Ecclesiastes 9:12

Heavenly Father, thank You that my life has meaning in Christ, for without Him I am nothing. Help me not to chase after the wind and engage in futile matters that have no permanence or lasting security. Thank You that in Christ I have all I need to make my life meaningful and productive, and I pray that in all I say and do, my life may be lived to honour You, and to glorify Your holy name. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN.

Praying through Ecclesiastes 9:18

Heavenly Father, endow me with wisdom and discernment from on high I pray, for I know that the spiritual battle in which we are engaged will not be victorious through man's skills and the strategies of this fallen world system, but are only supplied by grace, through trusting You, and standing firm on the Word of God. Thank You that in Him we have all we need for life and godliness, and thank You for the spiritual armour which has been provided for our protection. Father, I know that the battle is the Lord's and I desire to carry out Your plans and purposes for my life. Give me the wisdom I need to stand firm in this evil day, and help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, and my heart ready to obey Your call. This I ask in His precious name, AMEN.

Prayer For Babies In The Womb

Heavenly Father, I bring before You all women that are pregnant, and all couples that are expecting a little baby to be born into their home. I ask Your protection for all babies that are secretly being formed in the womb of their mother.

I ask for their protection, preservation and healthy growth while still developing in the womb, and I pray that expectant mothers will be given the wisdom and grace to avoid the things that can prove so detrimental to the development of the pre-born child.

I pray that You would surround all pre-born babies with a hedge of protection, and that each little life may develop into the perfectly healthy new-born baby, knowing that there are so many problems that can affect a child in the womb and injure their physical and cognitive development.

Lord it was You that said, "suffer the little children to come unto Me and forbid them not," and so I pray that each one would be born into a family that loves and cherishes them and that each one would learn of Jesus in the days that lie ahead. In Jesus' name,

Amen.

“As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.”

Praying through Ecclesiastes 12:13

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of God and the wisdom that it contains. Help me to be willing to learn all the lessons it has to offer and not to go chasing after the wind so that I may live my life wisely, to Your praise and glory. Thank You that even though there are times when I stray from Your side and seek after the things of this world, that in Your grace You draw me back into Your loving arms. I pray that my life from this day forward may be a life that is consecrated to You and that my eyes remain fixed upon Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
