Prayer for Joel

Praying through Joel 1:13

Heavenly Father, how blessed I am to have found my rest in You and to live under Your sufficient grace. Lord, there are times when I have failed to live righteously and I confess that I have not trusted You as I ought. Keep me from falling back into the sin of worry and unbelief, like the people of Israel. Prevent me from trying to sort out my life in my own strength, instead of trusting in Your Word. Thank You that You are my God and that in You I have all that I need for life and righteousness. Help me to walk in Your ways and honour Your holy name. In Christ's name I pray, AMEN.

“Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.”

Praying through Joel 2:1

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your Word is true and stands fast forever. Thank You that You told us the end from the beginning and that we know that Christ’s victory on the Cross and the full power of the Resurrection, will be realised in the promised kingdom of heaven on earth, when the earth will be filled with the glory of God as the waters cover the sea. Give me the urgency to tell unsaved Jews and Gentiles alike, the good news that Jesus has paid the price for the sin of the world, through His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection. Use me to go and proclaim the good news of the gospel of grace to those You put in my path, while there is still time. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;”

Praying through Joel 2:12

Heavenly Father, thank You for the book of Joel which bears witness of Your goodness and grace to all who will trust in Your Word. Teach me the lessons that You would have me learn from Israel’s history, and keep me from making the same mistakes. Help me to make my outward life a demonstration of a changed inner life which trusts You implicitly, in thought, word, deed, and motive. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:”

Prayer To Find The Root Of My Health Problem

Heavenly Father, I seem to have been hit with a number of ailments all at the same time, and the doctors do not seem to know why this has happened, or how to treat me. Lord, You know exactly what is wrong with my body, and I ask that You would direct me toward the right treatment, not just to mask the conditions that have invaded my body, but to search out the root of the problem, and enable it to be cured.

Lord, I know that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that You even know the number of hairs on my head. You knew me before I was born and scheduled every day of my life, so this illness is nothing unexpected to You. Heal me Lord I pray, in whatever way seems best to You.

Lord, show me what I ought to do, I pray. If I need to change my eating habits, eliminate something from my diet or do something I have not thought about, I ask that You would direct me, or prompt someone else give me some advice.

Lord, I wait on You and pray that in Your time and in Your way, You will not only restore my body to full health and strength, but that You would give me Your peace and serenity in my heart, knowing that in all things, I am safe in the arms of my Saviour, in Whose name I pray,

Amen.

“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”

Praying through Joel 2:28

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your many precious promises to Your people, Israel, and that despite their rejection of Christ as Messiah, You have not rejected them. Thank You that in Your grace, You gave Your Spirit at Pentecost to dwell in the heart of all who trust Christ as Saviour. Thank You that this wonderful prophecy that You will pour out Your Spirit upon all flesh, will one day be finally and fully fulfilled. But until that time, use me to tell out the good news of Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:”

Praying through Joel 2:32

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your faithfulness to Your people, Israel, and also to Your Church which is the Body of Christ. Thank You that despite Israel's apostasy, You have not forsaken Your people, Israel, but have promised that whoever calls on the name of the Lord Jesus will be saved. Thank You for Your mercy and grace, both in this Church Age and in the coming time of Jacob's Trouble. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.”

Praying through Joel 3:1

Thank You, Father, that You are the immutable God Whose promises to both Israel and the Church stand fast forever and ever and Whose Word of truth cannot change. Thank You for the many insights into the plans and purposes written in Joel’s short prophecy and that the day is coming when Israel’s enemies will be routed, their fortunes will be restored, and Jesus will rule and reign as their Messiah-King on the throne of His father, David. Give me discernment and understanding as I read Your Word. Use me as You will, to bring Your Word to its completion in my life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN

“For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,”
