Prayer for 1 Peter 1

Praying through 1 Peter 1:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for the life and ministry of Peter and all your apostles and prophets who penned the Scriptures for our learning. As I read and study Your Word, I pray that You would give me a teachable spirit and a desire to learn the truth of the gospel of Christ. I pray I would not read it with any unscriptural bias or learned prejudice, and I pray I would not accept any unbiblical interpretations. Guide me into all truth, and may I grow in grace and in a knowledge of my Lord and Saviour. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Peter 1:2

Heavenly Father, thank You that You know the end from the beginning and that You foreknew that I would trust in the Lord Jesus for my salvation. Thank You that You knew that I would become part of the elect of God from the beginning - by grace through faith. Thank You that You sought me out while I was dead in my sins and that Your Holy Spirit convicted me of sin, righteousness, judgement and my need of Jesus. Thank You that in Him I am apart as Your child. I pray that I may be obedient to my calling and bring glory to Your holy name in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being with me in all my trials. What a blessing to realise that when I go through trials, the end result can be a stronger faith which is much more precious than gold. I know the refining process that I am going through is difficult, but I pray that when I have been tried in the fire, my faith would come forth as gold, to Your praise, and honour, and glory. Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that in obedience to Your Word of truth I have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin, and have had my sin-sick soul cleansed by His blood and purified, through faith in Him. I pray that I would develop a sincere love for all my brothers and sisters in Christ. Give me a Christlike love, I pray. Develop in me a sacrificial love, so that I may fervently love others from the heart. I pray that I would grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus, and that He would increase and I would decrease until it is not I that live, but Christ that lives in me, and His love that flows through me. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.
