Prayer for Revelation 1

Praying through Revelation 1:1

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and that You have told us what will happen before it happens so that we will believe. May I read, mark, and learn from all You have told me in the book of Revelation and may I be guided by the Holy Spirit into all truth. But above all, as I read this book, I pray that Jesus would be revealed to me, more and more, and I would know Him more clearly, love Him more dearly, and follow Him more nearly, all the days of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:”

Praying through Revelation 1:3

Heavenly Father, it is amazing to realise that only one book of the Bible has a unique blessing specifically attached to it, as this verse tells us. I pray that many would turn to this final book of the Bible and read it, hear the words of this prophecy, and keep the things written in this book… and receive the blessing exclusively reserved for those who read, hear, and heed the words of Revelation. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”

Praying through Revelation 1:4

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing grace and perfect peace which You supply in such abundance to all those who are called by Your name. Thank You that You are the eternal God, from everlasting to everlasting. Help me to take to heart all the truths that are contained in Your Word and apply them in my life, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Revelation 1:5

Heavenly Father, I stand amazed and kneel in awe as I consider Jesus, Your only begotten Son, and the Firstborn from the dead. Thank You that His name is Faithful and True, and that He washed me clean in His cleansing blood and loves me with an everlasting love. Thank You that He is 'The Faithful Witness' and 'the Firstborn from the dead'. Thank You that Jesus is the Ruler of the kings of the earth, and turns them whichever way He chooses. Praise Your name for all You are, and all You have done in my life. Give me I pray, a deeper understanding of this amazing love you have for all Your children. Use me today and in the days ahead, in Your service, and for Your praise and glory, until Jesus returns in the clouds for His Church. It is in His name I pray, AMEN.

“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,”

Praying through Revelation 1:6

Heavenly Father, I am not worthy to gather up the crumbs under Your table and yet you have chosen me to be part of Your heavenly kingdom. Thank You that I am in Christ and have become part of His Body, which is the Church. Thank You that, together with all believers, I have been sanctified unto God, chosen to become a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for His own possession. Lord, I offer my body, my life, myself, my all, to be a living sacrifice to You. May I live to Your praise and glory from this day forward. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

Praying through Revelation 1:7

Heavenly Father, I praise and thank You for Your wonderful plan of redemption. Thank You that I have been saved by grace through faith in Christ and thank You that the wrath of God was poured out on Christ in my stead. I know that a terrible time of trouble is coming on the whole earth when Your righteous wrath will be poured out on a God-hating, Christ-rejecting, sinful world, but I pray that many would come to faith in Jesus during that time of great distress. Thank You that the Millennial reign of Christ is coming soon, when the earth shall be filled with the glory of God as the waters cover the sea. AMEN.

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

Praying through Revelation 1:12

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the truths it contains. Thank You that I am part of Your Body and am privileged to be an ambassador on earth. May I reflect the light of Your love and truth to others in all I say and do. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Revelation 1:13

Loving Father, thank You for sending the Lord Jesus to be Son of Man so that I can become a child of God. Thank You, Father, that He took on flesh and blood, and took the punishment that I deserve upon Himself, for which I praise Your glorious name. Thank You that He is returning soon to take me to be with Himself. All glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, Who was in the beginning, is now - and ever shall be, world without end, AMEN.

“And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.”

Praying through Revelation 1:14

Heavenly Father, thank You for this amazing revelation of Jesus Christ and for opening our understanding that the Suffering Servant Who died for our sin and rose again on the third day, is the incarnate, all powerful God in Whom are the words of eternal life. Thank You that He took the punishment for my sin and that the same, mighty, resurrected God and Saviour is coming again to judge the world in righteousness. Thank You that those who are in Christ have nothing to fear, for perfect love casts out fear. Help me to live my life in a manner that is worthy of Him, to Whom be all honour and glory, world without end, AMEN.

Praying through Revelation 1:15

Heavenly Father, thank You for the revelation of Jesus Christ which You gave to your servant John to show us all that must come to pass in the not too distant future. Thank You that Christ took the terrible punishment for my sin and that I have been clothed in His righteousness, by faith in His death and Resurrection. I pray that my life would be a faithful and true witness of Your goodness and grace to me and that I will hear Him say well done, good and faithful servant. May I eschew every kind of evil, hold fast to His Word of truth, and listen carefully to all that the Holy Spirit says to the churches, for Your greater honour and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.”

Praying through Revelation 1:16

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, the written Word, and the living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You that Your Word is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword. Thank You that nothing is hidden from Jesus and my life is laid bare before His eyes, from my actions to the thoughts and intentions behind my actions. May I live my life for Him every day of my life, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Revelation 1:18

Heavenly Father, what a glorious truth that Jesus is the living One, the first to rise from the dead. Thank You that You sent Your beloved Son to be born in human flesh and to die on the Cross to pay the price for my sin so that I may be forgiven of my sin. I praise You that He rose again from the dead, is alive forevermore, and has the keys of death and hell. I praise and thank You that because He is alive, I too will rise from the grave imperishable and live with You through all eternity. Praise Your holy name. Praise the name of Jesus. Hallelujah! AMEN.

I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
