Praying through John 19:1

Heavenly Father, as I contemplate those who were implicated in the terrible and unjust treatment of the Lord Jesus Christ, may I not be one who carelessly points an accusing finger at those who condemned Him, knowing that I am also to blame - for while I was a still a sinner, Christ died for my sins so that by His grace through faith, I might be saved from eternal condemnation. He is indeed worthy of all praise and glory. Thank You in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.”

Praying through John 19:5

Heavenly Father, the more I think about the cross the more I begin to understand the immensity of what the Lord Jesus did for me and for the whole world. Thank You that I have come to an understanding of Who Jesus is and what He has done for me so that by faith in Him I am free from all condemnation.. forgiven of my sins and eternally secure in Christ. May I never ever forget what Jesus has done for me through time and into eternity - in Jesus name I pray. AMEN.

Praying through John 19:26

Loving Father, as I see the tender compassion the Lord Jesus had toward His mother as He died on the Cross to save my soul, I want to thank You that You also care about every aspect of my life and those for whom I am responsible. Help me to look to Jesus so that as I gaze into His lovely face, I will see the same tender compassion and love. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!”

Praying through John 19:27

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the Word of God that opens up my understanding of Your perfect plan of salvation and Your great wisdom, power, compassion, and grace. Thank You for sending Your Son to be our Kinsman-Redeemer and that He was willing to set aside His glory for a time to come to earth as a Man and live a perfect, sinless life to qualify Him to pay the price of sin - a price that we fallen sinners can never attain. I pray that the tender, loving kindness He showed to His mother when He placed her into the care of John, may be forthcoming in my own life, as I die to myself and live for Him alone. This I ask in Jesus' name AMEN.

“Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.”

Praying through John 19:28

Loving Father, it amazes me that Your Son would even call out for a drink so that all Scripture concerning my salvation was made secure in Him. There are times when I foolishly doubt Your Word, but You are a faithful God whose Word can be trusted in every detail. Teach me more of You, for I want to know You better and love You more. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.”

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your finished work on Calvary and for all You suffered for me. All was accomplished so that I could live forever with You in heaven and not fear any condemnation because I am in You. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.
