Praying through 1 Corinthians 12:1

Heavenly Father, help me to surrender my life to You and use the gifts and graces with which I have been blessed, with wisdom, and for Your greater glory. Thank You, that I am part of the wider Body of Christ. Thank You, that we are being fitted together as Your holy dwelling place. I pray that together we may learn to use our spiritual gifts for the benefit of the whole Body, and rejoice that we are One in Christ, through time and into eternity. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 12:3

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is my Lord and my God, and that He came to earth from heaven to die on the cross for my sins, and the sins of the whole world. Thank You that You lifted me out of the slave-market of sin and seated me together with Christ in heavenly places. Give me wisdom and discernment to identify pretenders in the faith, who are sheep in wolves clothing... and increasingly open the eyes of my understanding to know You more, and to love You better. This I ask in Jesus' precious name, AMEN.

“Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.”

“But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 12:12

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am part of the Body of Christ and for the gifts and graces that You have given to me. I pray that I may live my life according to Your perfect plans and purposes. Use me to compliment the work carried out by my brothers and sisters in Christ, and I pray that I may be a beautiful testimony of the goodness and grace of Jesus Christ my Lord, to a lost and dying world. Unite the whole Body of Christ, with a dependant mutuality, so that as individuals we may be truly united as one Body, to serve You in the place where You have planted us. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 12:13

Heavenly Father, thank You that all believers are full and equal members of the Church and that by Your grace, I was baptised into the Body of Christ at salvation. Thank You that I can partake of the same spiritual benefits that have been promised to all Your children. And thank You for the gifts, graces, benefits, and ministry You have seen fit to give me individually, by Your grace. I pray that I may be a willing and obedient member of Christ's Body, and fulfil all the work You have prepared for me to do, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 12:27

Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of being united to Christ by faith and being part of Your Body - the Church. Thank You for my brothers and sisters in Christ, and I pray that we would be united together in love. I pray that in all things we would learn to love You with all our heart and soul and mind and strength and put the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ before our own, for Your greater praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 12:31

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gifts of the Spirit and the wide diversity of gifts and graces that You graciously bestow on Your all children. Thank You that I am a member of the Body of Christ and that together, our diverse spiritual gifts can be exercised for the greater benefit of the whole Body. May we all grow in grace and in a knowledge of Jesus, and be enabled to provide edification for one another, as well as being edified by them. Thank You that we are not meant to live in spiritual isolation from other believers, but are a collective Body, that is being built up into the Temple of God. Enable me to exercise the spiritual gift with which I have been endowed, for the greater benefit of the wider Body of Christ. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.”
