Praying through Luke 12:15

Loving Father, keep me from covetousness, carnal behaviour, and envying the wicked who seem to have everything in this world, while so many of Your children often seem to be so deprived. Help me to realise how short this life is and the futility of living for earthly possessions. Help me to live my life in spirit and truth so that by dying to self, I live for Christ and to His praise and glory, which will produce a great reward in heaven. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”

Praying through Luke 12:22

Father, I confess that I worry about many things, rather than trusting Your Word implicitly. Help me to learn to cast all my cares upon You, day by day, and moment by moment. As each worry and concern forms in my mind, I pray that I would take that thought captive to Christ. I pray that with Your help, I will look to You and hand over my anxious thoughts to You, knowing that You have promised to carry me through all of life's difficulties and provide for the needs of me and my family. Thank You for Your goodness and grace. I pray this prayer in the name of Jesus, AMEN.

“And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.”

Prayer To Take Every Anxious Thought Captive

Father, we are told to consider the wonderful way that You provide for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, knowing that we, who are Your children, are so much more precious to You than they are. Why do I become anxious, when I know that all I have to do is to trust You? Why do I spend so much of my time worrying about so many things in life? I know that You have promised to be our Healer, our Provider, our Shepherd and our Peace, and You have been these and so much more to me, and yet Lord I am prone to anxiety and care.

Help me Lord, to take captive each anxious thoughts that crosses my mind as it arises in my heart, and give it over to You as You have instructed. Help me to, "take every anxious thought captive,” the moment it passes like a shadow across my heart. Help me to hand it over to Jesus, instead of allowing it to revolve around my mind, causing anxiety in my soul to increase.

Help me to consider the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, and the heavens and the earth and all that You have made by the strength of Your mighty power, knowing that Your same mighty power is available to all Who trust in Christ as Saviour. Help me to consider Jesus and all He did for me at Calvary. And help me to take every anxious thoughs captive, and rest in Him.

Amen.

“And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?”

Praying through Luke 12:27

Father God, I thank You for the timely reminders throughout Your Word that I am to cast all my concerns on You, all my physical, emotional, financial, relational, and daily worries and fears, knowing that all things are under Your sovereign control. Thank You for providing all I have ever needed, and may I develop the right attitude towards my everyday needs and the necessities of life. Keep me mindful that worry starts with a simple doubt about Your goodness, but doubt is displaced when I trust in You with all my heart and don’t lean on my own understanding. Help me to trust You in all things. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Luke 12:31

Father, You have shown me that every thought that comes into my mind can be turned to evil or good, worry or faith, defeat or victory. Thank You that I have access to the very mind of Christ through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Help me to take every thought captive by turning my heart to the Lord Jesus, for in seeking Him I will be seeking His kingdom and His righteousness, which is the bedrock of faith in God. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
