Prayer for 1 Thessalonians 5

Praying through 1 Thessalonians 5:2

Heavenly Father, thank You that we who have trusted Jesus as Saviour are not appointed to wrath, but to be rescued from the time of Tribulation that will come on an unsuspecting world as a thief in the night. May I be ready and prepared for that glorious day when Christ comes to rescue His Bride, and takes us to be with Himself into heaven. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”

Praying through 1 Thessalonians 5:5

Loving Father, thank You for the Word of Truth and the promise of Christ's any day return to take us to be with Himself. I pray that I will not fall into apathy or wrong thinking, but that, day by day, Jesus is the focus of my heart, as I wait in expectancy for His soon return. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.”

Praying through 1 Thessalonians 5:6

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the comfort it gives to us. Thank You that despite the turmoil the world is in, You are still in control. I pray that I may remain awake and alert, looking for that blessed day when Christ will come in the clouds to receive us unto Himself. I pray that despite the terrible Tribulation period, when Your justified wrath will be poured out on a Christ rejecting sinful world, that many would come to faith in the Lord Jesus and be redeemed out of the terrible consequences of unbelief. The Spirit and the Bride say 'come'. Maranatha - even so, come Lord Jesus! AMEN.

“Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.”

Praying through 1 Thessalonians 5:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful encouragement we receive in Your written Word and the enlightenment that You have given us about these end times. May I always look for the blessed hope when Christ returns, and in the meantime, may I continue to go forth and proclaim the gospel of grace, while there is still time. I pray that many would come to faith in You due to my testimony and for Your greater praise and glory. This I pray in Jesus. name, AMEN.

“But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.”

Praying through 1 Thessalonians 5:9

Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ died to pay the price for my sin and took the full force of Your wrath against my sin on the Cross so that I might be forgiven, receive eternal life, and not be appointed to wrath. I pray that I may live my life in a manner that is pleasing to You. Keep me from temptation to sin, and guide me in the way that I should go. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Thessalonians 5:10

Heavenly Father, thank You that my life is hid with Christ, and that His finished work is accepted by You on my behalf. Thank You for the assurance that throughout the challenges I face in the daily and nightly round of life, You are with me and dwelling in me. Thank You that even if I am required to face physical death, Your promise remains firm, that I will one day live together with Christ in an indestructible body. Praise Your glorious name! AMEN.

Praying through 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Heavenly Father, what a wonderful message is contained in this beautiful passage of Scripture. Thank You that You caused Paul to teach this glorious truth so clearly and simply to the dear believers in Thessalonica. Thank You that I am a member of Christ’s Body and am not appointed to wrath, because Jesus took all the punishment that I deserve upon Himself so that I might be forgiven of my sin and not fall under Your righteous judgement. I pray that as the day for Christ’s return approaches, when He will gather His saints, both living and dead to Himself, that I will ready. Thank You that this day will not come on me like a thief in the night, as it does for the unbeliever. Thank You for telling us the end from the beginning. Help me to share this message of comfort and hope with those that are saved and those that are lost in their sin, for Your greater glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”
